About the President / CEO

Dr. Anthony E. Woods is married (Fioldaliza) with six children (D'Ellis, Aja, Dorothy, Abel, Haydeliz, and Nasyida), two grandchildren (Kingsley and Alakai), and currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Palatka Housing Authority (PHA). Woods has proven experience as a proactive leader in federal housing assistance programs, including urban planning and policy development. Woods began his work within the affordable housing industry in October 1994. He previously served as President and CEO of Daytona Beach Housing Authority.

A demonstrated leader in the affordable housing sector, Woods is the past president of the Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO), which was established as an association in 1972 as a means of exchanging information for the purpose of improving low-income and affordable housing and community services, and has grown to represent more than 200 housing agencies, community development agencies, and associate members who work together to ensure that all of Florida's citizens have clean, safe and affordable housing. In his previous role as Executive Director of the Greene County Housing Authority in Alabama, he was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Alabama Children's Policy Council, and he served as past president of Alabama Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (AAHRO) past member of the Board of Ethics and Credentialing Trustees of NAHRO.

Woods was invited to participate in an Affordable Housing Convening on proposed HUD rules in U.S. public housing with PHADA, NAHRO, HUD Secretary, Congressional Delegates and other highly notable leaders in 2003. Woods was a recipient of HUD's Public Housing Works certificate presented by both the HUD Secretary and HUD Assistant Secretary.

Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, and raised in Pass Christian, Mississippi, Woods' educational background includes a Doctorate in Divinity from Grace Theological Seminary, a Master of Business Administration studies from William Carey University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Alcorn State University. He also holds certifications as Public Housing Manager (PHM) and Senior Professional Housing Manager (SPHM), both from NAHRO, and a Certificate from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, for completion of the Executive Director Education Program. Woods completed certification requirements for Managing Mold and Lead-Base Paint Testing from the University of Alabama. A well-rounded industry veteran, Woods is also a licensed Realtor, holds Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) management certification, Chaplain from Universidad Teologica Vida Abundante, Six Sigma and Lean Thinking certification, Woods is currently studying Hebrew.
