Position Title:             ROSS Support / Intake Specialist

The ROSS Support Specialist will be responsible for and committed to the implementation of the Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency Program. Assist in the coordination of supportive services and other resident empowerment activities designed to assist Affordable Housing and Section-8 Housing families in achieving economic self-sufficiency, help families increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare, and help the elderly or persons with disabilities to improve their living conditions, maintain independent living, age in place and avoid placement in a full are facility. Assist ROSS Program Coordinator with the delivery of direct services to residents, identify and engage new partnerships and assist in evaluating program success.

The ROSS Support Specialist provides appropriate modeling techniques, genuine enthusiasm and other supportive services to families and individuals whose goal is to improve overall quality of life. Overall, the ROSS Support Specialist contributes to the PHA high performance culture by exhibiting our Code of Values.


  • Experience working with culturally diverse children and families in a human services or education setting
  • A.A. degree from an accredited educational institution
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Experience and proficient with personal computer, emails, word processing, Microsoft Office and office equipment



  • Recruits residents for the ROSS Program
  • Verifying family's household income
  • Coordinate Program Committee
  • Provide service coordination
  • Coordinate educational events
  • Help build support networks within the community
  • Encourage civic engagement/self-help groups
  • Monitor provision of services
  • Data entry
  • Intake eligibility evaluation
  • Client assessments
  • Develops goals for the ROSS program and evaluates progress
  • Coordinates workshops and special events for ROSS clients
  • Maintains relationships with various community agency personnel, particularly the Program
  • Coordinating Committee for the coordination and information sharing, as well as to referring ROSS clients to services.
  • Seeks resources for ROSS Program, i.e. goods, services, and volunteers, etc.
  • Prepares reports, brochures, and other documents for the ROSS Program
  • Coordinates and conducts in-house training opportunities for ROSS clients
  • Maintains current information regarding services relevant to ROSS clients
  • Track and report to HUD on progress of ROSS program
  • Evaluate overall success of program
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
